Abstract

Biotechnology has emerged as a transformative scientific discipline capable of addressing some of the world's most pressing challenges, including food insecurity, infectious diseases, climate change, environmental degradation, and sustainable industrial development. The transition of biotechnology from laboratory-based discoveries to real-world societal applications is essential for achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It further discusses challenges related to ethics, biosafety, regulations, technology transfer, public acceptance, and equitable access. The paper proposes an integrated framework for translating laboratory innovations into sustainable societal benefits through interdisciplinary collaboration among academia, industry, governments, and communities.
