Abstract
Advances in assisted reproductive technologies (ART) have transformed in vitro fertilization (IVF) practices worldwide, and India has emerged as one of the fastest-growing hubs for clinical and laboratory innovation. This review examines emerging technologies reshaping Indian IVF laboratories, with a focus on time-lapse embryo imaging systems, artificial intelligence (AI)-based embryo scoring models, improved culture systems, microfluidics, and precision genomics. Time-lapse incubators have improved embryo developmental monitoring without compromising culture stability, while AI-driven prediction models enhance embryo selection accuracy and reduce subjectivity among embryologists. The increasing adoption of automation, non-invasive biomarkers, and digital workflow management has further optimized laboratory efficiency and outcomes in high-volume Indian IVF centres. Despite promising advancements, barriers related to cost, training, data privacy, standardization, and regulatory frameworks persist. This review synthesizes technological progress, current applications, limitations, and future opportunities to integrate next-generation reproductive technologies across India’s IVF ecosystem.
